Katniss Everdeen – a Likely or Unlikely Rebel in Young Adult Dystopian Fiction?

The article discusses the concept of young adult dystopia (henceforth YAD), and offers an analysis of a chosen female dystopian protagonist. The first part of the article includes a discussion of the terms ‘utopia’ and ‘dystopia’, and characteristic features and motifs of YAD of the 20th and 21st century. The second part of the article focuses on the presentation of a chosen YAD heroine based on the example of the rebel Katniss Everdeen, the main character of the novel ‘The Hunger Games’ by Suzanne Collins.
To Drama or Not to Drama? Benefits of Using Drama Techniques in a Language Classroom

The article discusses implementing drama techniques across the curriculum, and in foreign language (FL) education. It concentrates on the benefits and the potential for developing the whole learner and their language skills. Using drama in language classrooms brings numerous gains as it helps to create a beneficial linguistic environment, facilitating learner output and meaning negotiation in the target language, which are directly connected with learner motivation and educational success.
