Evaluation of the relationship between bricolage and self-efficacy in nursing students
(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2024-02-09) Töyer Şahin, Nilhan ; Karan, Tuğba ; Taşan, Nazan
This study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between bricolage and selfefficacy in nursing students. Material and methods. The study was conducted with undergraduate nursing students between October 1, 2022 and April 1, 2023, using the snowball (chain) sampling method. Data were collected online with the Personal Descriptive Form, General Self-Efficacy Scale and Bricolage Scale and analyzed in SPSS version 22. Results. The mean scores were as follows: 32.93±7.27 for the Initiation Dimension, 17.79±3.87 for the Persistence Dimension, 9.85±2.51 for the Maintenance Effort Persistence Dimension, 60.57±11.61 for the General Self-Efficacy Scale, and 30.66±5.32 for the Bricolage Scale. The U values of the difference between nursing students in terms of their feeling of being suited to the nursing profession in terms of the Initiation Dimension, Persistence Dimension, Maintenance Effort Persistence Dimension, and General Self-Efficacy Scale scores were determined to be significant at a significance level of p<0.05. Conclusions. It can be said that the general self-efficacy status of nursing students who feel suited to the nursing profession is better than those who do not feel suited to the nursing profession.

Mechanical grinding of spices in grinders with polymeric burrs and transfer of microplastics to food
(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2024-03-19) Zbucki, Łukasz ; Plażuk, Ewa
Nowadays, researchers are alarming that our everyday food products may be contaminated with plastics during the processing and packaging process. Plastic polymers and harmful chemical additives, such as plasticizers, dyes or modifiers, may enter our body along with food in the form of microplastic particles and cause harm to human health. Risk assessment of microplastics in food products is still at an early stage due to the heterogeneity of research and methodology. Material and methods. The present study analyzed the abrasion of plastic particles from several different Himalayan salt and black pepper grinders with burrs made of polymers using FT-IR and SEM techniques. Results. The study confirms the effect of the polymers used on the amount of microplastic released as well as the rate of wear of the grinder burrs from the ground spice. Conclusions. However, determining the impact of using such devices on human health requires further research.

Activation and support for the development of people with physical disabilities in the opinion of the residents of the social welfare home in Szczecin
(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2024-02-28) Stępień-Słodkowska, Marta ; Siedziako, Robert
Physical activity contributes to maintaining good health. The priority in striving for the proper quality of life of people with special needs is to provide this population with opportunities to participate in sports activities and with access to special devices. The aim of the research was to learn about the limitations and barriers to physical activity among people with disabilities regarding places to engage in physical activity, to determine the needs and capabilities of these people in relation to places to engage in physical activity, and present proposals for innovative exercise equipment. Material and methods. The research material consisted of data obtained from 26 people with physical disabilities. The diagnostic survey method and survey technique were used, and the tool was a self-made questionnaire. Results. The proposed devices enable people to engage in physical activity. The devices are intended for exercising upper muscle groups and are adapted for people with disabilities. They are used in medical rehabilitation. As a result of the greater dynamics of exercise, the resistance increases. To make it easier for the users, the device manual contains boards with pictograms, interactive boards with instructional videos, and an audio board. Conclusions. There is a great demand for the development of sports and recreational infrastructure while maintaining all aspects of respect for people with disabilities. The versatility of outdoor exercise equipment allows you to create perfect places for integration and social bonding. Healthy lifestyle programs can reduce barriers to participation as well as increase physical activity, improve healthy lifestyle habits, and facilitate social integration.

Effectiveness of aquatic therapy on football players’ performance: a systematic review
(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2024-02-02) Doctor Rusi, Arnaaz ; Rathod, Priyanshu
Aquatic therapy involves exercises performed in water, which has a rich historical lineage in therapeutic practices. Ancient cultures recognized the healing properties of water, and in the 20th century, it evolved into the modern aquatic therapy used for movement rehabilitation. The American Physical Therapy Association formally integrated aquatic therapy into physical therapy and rehabilitation in 1992. The unique properties of water, including buoyancy, thermodynamics, hydrostatic pressure, density, and viscosity, make it a safe and effective medium for rehabilitation. Aquatic training reduces tissue impact forces, allowing for increased training without reaching injury thresholds. Despite its potential, the application of aquatic therapy in sports, particularly in football, remains underexplored. The aim of this review was to analyze recent research evidence on the effectiveness of aquatic therapy for improving football players’ performance. The systematic review primarily includes randomized controlled trials and experimental studies conducted between 2012 and 2022. Searches were performed using Google Scholar, PubMed, and PEDro databases, employing keywords such as “aquatic therapy approach”, “football players”, “speed”, “agility”, “core strength”, “power” and “kick velocity”. A total of 1,512 articles were initially identified using the specified keywords; however, only 10 articles met the inclusion criteria and were included in the study. The findings indicate that the aquatic therapy approach effectively enhances the performance of football players.

Relationship between spinal column health and physical activity among schoolchildren aged 12-13
(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2024-01-29) Szigethy, Mónika ; Nagyváradi, Katalin ; Heszteráné Ekler, Judit ; Ihász, Ferenc
This study aimed to investigate the potential correlation between the physiological condition of the spine and posture habits among both adolescent athletes and non-athletes. Material and methods. In this research, a modified version of the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) was utilized to assess the exercise routines and sports engagement of the participants. Additionally, the Idiag M360pro Spinal Mouse device was employed for the evaluation of spinal column health. Results. The findings revealed a statistically significant relationship between negligence and sports participation (χ2(1, n=61)=6.036, p=0.018). Specifically, a smaller proportion of athletes (39.1%, 9 individuals) exhibited careless posture in comparison to non-athletes (71.7%, 27 individuals). Moreover, a statistically significant association was identified between poor posture and involvement in sports (χ2(1, n=61)=7.878, p=0.008). Notably, a smaller percentage of athletes (26.1%, 6 individuals) demonstrated poor posture, contrasted with non-athletes (63.2%, 24 individuals). Conclusions. The results indicate that within the examined sample, athletes exhibited a lower prevalence of poor posture. Nevertheless, it is noteworthy that half of the entire sample manifested issues related to posture. Consequently, the primary role of physical education instructors and coaches should involve preventive measures through physical activities that foster a passion for sports. This, in turn, can contribute to the development of proper muscle balance and the maintenance of correct posture.
