RekordRelationship between spinal column health and physical activity among schoolchildren aged 12-13(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2024-01-29) Szigethy, Mónika ; Nagyváradi, Katalin ; Heszteráné Ekler, Judit ; Ihász, FerencThis study aimed to investigate the potential correlation between the physiological condition of the spine and posture habits among both adolescent athletes and non-athletes. Material and methods. In this research, a modified version of the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) was utilized to assess the exercise routines and sports engagement of the participants. Additionally, the Idiag M360pro Spinal Mouse device was employed for the evaluation of spinal column health. Results. The findings revealed a statistically significant relationship between negligence and sports participation (χ2(1, n=61)=6.036, p=0.018). Specifically, a smaller proportion of athletes (39.1%, 9 individuals) exhibited careless posture in comparison to non-athletes (71.7%, 27 individuals). Moreover, a statistically significant association was identified between poor posture and involvement in sports (χ2(1, n=61)=7.878, p=0.008). Notably, a smaller percentage of athletes (26.1%, 6 individuals) demonstrated poor posture, contrasted with non-athletes (63.2%, 24 individuals). Conclusions. The results indicate that within the examined sample, athletes exhibited a lower prevalence of poor posture. Nevertheless, it is noteworthy that half of the entire sample manifested issues related to posture. Consequently, the primary role of physical education instructors and coaches should involve preventive measures through physical activities that foster a passion for sports. This, in turn, can contribute to the development of proper muscle balance and the maintenance of correct posture.

RekordAnalysis of diabetes-related health policy programs implemented by local government units in Poland between 2012 and 2022(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2024-01-31) Grudziąż-Sękowska, Justyna ; Sękowski, Kuba ; Jankowski, Mateusz ; Pinkas, JarosławThis study examines the diabetes-related health policy programs (HPPs) implemented in Poland between 2012 and 2022. Material and methods. The material of the study was a collection of all HPPs submitted by local government units (LGUs) in Poland between 2012 and 2022, among which diabetes-related programs were identified. The full texts of the diabetes-related programs were subject to retrospective analysis, taking into account the characteristics of the measures envisaged in them, as well as information about the submitting LGU. Results. Out of 1974 programs submitted by LGUs, only 2.3% were diabetes-related, and merely 1.3% were implemented. All programs focused solely on type 2 diabetes. 43.8% of provinces, 4.2% of counties and 1% of communes had implemented at least one diabetes-related program. Secondary prevention and health promotion were emphasized, with little attention to primary prevention. Common interventions included health education, BMI/WHR measurements, and FPG/OGTT tests. Conclusions. HPPs are rarely used in diabetes prevention by LGUs. There are barriers, including limited legal authority for certain interventions, inadequate expertise in program design, and disparities in resources and capacities among LGUs. In the article, recommendations are made for improving diabetes-related HPPs, including the improved defining of target populations, incorporating primary prevention strategies, and providing support and training to local administration workers.

RekordEffectiveness of aquatic therapy on football players’ performance: a systematic review(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2024-02-02) Doctor Rusi, Arnaaz ; Rathod, PriyanshuAquatic therapy involves exercises performed in water, which has a rich historical lineage in therapeutic practices. Ancient cultures recognized the healing properties of water, and in the 20th century, it evolved into the modern aquatic therapy used for movement rehabilitation. The American Physical Therapy Association formally integrated aquatic therapy into physical therapy and rehabilitation in 1992. The unique properties of water, including buoyancy, thermodynamics, hydrostatic pressure, density, and viscosity, make it a safe and effective medium for rehabilitation. Aquatic training reduces tissue impact forces, allowing for increased training without reaching injury thresholds. Despite its potential, the application of aquatic therapy in sports, particularly in football, remains underexplored. The aim of this review was to analyze recent research evidence on the effectiveness of aquatic therapy for improving football players’ performance. The systematic review primarily includes randomized controlled trials and experimental studies conducted between 2012 and 2022. Searches were performed using Google Scholar, PubMed, and PEDro databases, employing keywords such as “aquatic therapy approach”, “football players”, “speed”, “agility”, “core strength”, “power” and “kick velocity”. A total of 1,512 articles were initially identified using the specified keywords; however, only 10 articles met the inclusion criteria and were included in the study. The findings indicate that the aquatic therapy approach effectively enhances the performance of football players.
