Crises are a hallmark of the modern era. Various types of crises, both natural and man-made,
have a significant impact on politics, society, economy. One of the most important challenges of the modern
world are health crises.
Material and methods: To identify the phenomenon of health crises, a historical method supplemented
with discourse analysis devoted to the issues discussed in the article was used.
Results: Health crises were characterized as one of the most important challenges faced by modern people
and conclusions were formulated for understanding health crises useful for science and practice.
Conclusions: Health crises inevitably accompany human development and have a significant impact on
various areas of human life. The health crises presented in the study, including the case of the COVID-19
crisis, show that health crises are of great importance not only from the point of view of public health, but
also have broad non-health consequences.
