Biopharma engagement in South Asia: unveiling the potent influence of online social marketing on reshaping consumer preferences in Pakistan's thriving pharmaceutical realm
(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2023-11-12) Iftikhar, Moneeba ; Rasheed, Saba ; Horáčková, Kateřina
Background. Bio-pharmaceutical supplements are widely used and essential for consumer health awareness. They are commonly used as alternative or complementary medicine. The bio-pharmaceutical market includes substances with health benefits beyond nutritional value, such as dietary supplements, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, botanicals, etc. These products traditionally prevent and treat diseases. Material and methods. The study explores the impact of online social marketing on consumer behavior regarding biopharmaceutical products in Pakistan. Using involvement theory, it investigates how online social marketing influences purchase intentions, specifically regarding health and well-being. Results. During three months, from January to March 2023, a survey was conducted in Lahore, a city known for significant sales and purchases of these products. The study involved 500 female participants. The statistical analysis indicated excellent fit of the proposed model (χ²=12.5427, p=0.056; CFI, NFI, TLI>0.95; RMSEA=0.028), where situation mediates product’s effect on purchase (ab=0.1068). Product directly impacts purchase (c’=0.4273), showing significant influence on purchase (total effect=0.5341). Conclusions. The paper reviews social marketing literature, delving into the nexus of biopharma products, health, and their influence on purchase intentions. It identifies critical research gaps and suggests future directions, offering valuable insights for academia and Pakistan’s biopharmaceutical industry, focusing on advancing healthcare-related initiatives.

Physicians-in-training attitudes towards the community pharmacist-physician collaboration and pharmaceutical care: a 2022 cross-sectional survey in Poland
(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2023-12-11) Wrześniewska-Wal, Iwona ; Pinkas, Jarosław ; Jankowski, Mateusz
Background. The World Health Organization (WHO) encourages collaboration among healthcare professionals. Due to the aging of the population and the burden of chronic diseases, there is a need to implement effective pharmaceutical care in Poland. This study aimed to characterize attitudes towards community pharmacist-physician collaboration and pharmaceutical care among physicians-in-training in Poland. Material and methods. This cross-sectional survey was conducted among 509 doctors undergoing specialization training in the fourth quarter of 2022. The study questionnaire included 18 questions on community pharmacist-physician collaborative working and pharmaceutical care. Results. I n t he g roup o f r espondents, 9 4.1% a greed t hat t here i s a n eed f or t he p hysician-pharmacist c ollaboration i n pharmaceutical care. Among the respondents, 77.2% declared a lack of knowledge of the pharmacists’ responsibilities under Polish law, and 79.6% declared that the current education programs do not prepare physicians for cooperation with pharmacists and pharmaceutical care. Most of the physicians declared that pharmacists should provide patient education on the use of medical equipment (92.5%), detection of drug-dietary supplements interactions (85.9%), and detection of polypharmacy (85.7%). Lack of IT systems supporting collaborative working and pharmaceutical care (69.5%) was the most common barrier to collaboration with physicians. Conclusions. The study showed that current cooperation between physicians and community pharmacists is limited to formal issues. Building cooperation between physicians and pharmacists must start at the education stage. The implementation of pharmaceutical care should start with the cooperation of primary care physicians and community pharmacists from community pharmacies.

Reactivity of the oxygen transport system of elite athletes with different individual and typological properties in their nervous systems
(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2023-11-07) Lyzohub, Volodymyr ; Pustovalov, Vitalii ; Kozhemiako, Tetiana ; Khomenko, Sergii ; Bezkopylny, Oleksandr
Background. The mechanisms of neurovegetative interaction of the functional reactivity of the oxygen transport system (OTS) and genetically determined typological properties of the central nervous system (CNS) were studied. Material and methods. The typological properties of the central nervous system of elite football players (32 individuals) were determined on the “Diagnost-1” neurodynamic complex. The reactivity of the OTS was investigated in a stepincreasing running speed test using the Jaeger Oxycon Mobile gas analyzer. Results. The dependence of the reactive properties of the OTS on the genetically determined functional mobility of nervous processes (FMNP) was established. Statistically significant higher indicators of blood stroke volume, carbon dioxide release rate (VСO2) and blood lactate (НLa) were found in the athletes with a higher level of FMNP than in individuals with a low degree of typological property (р=0.033-0.045). The athletes with low FRNP were characterized by statistically significant high values of heart rate (HR) and rate of oxygen uptake (VO2 max). The indicators of minute volumes of blood and respiration did not show statistically significant differences in groups of sportsmen with different gradations of FMNP (р=0.064-0.078). Conclusions. The theoretical model and mechanisms of interaction of the individual-typological property of FMNP with the functional reactivity of OTS and the possibility of using the results to evaluate the playing activity of football players were discussed.

Attitudes of Generation Z toward digital gaming and healthy nutrition according to regular physical activity status
(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2023-10-23) Tekkurşun Demir, Gönül ; Batu, Batuhan ; Akkaya, Sümeyra
Background. The study aimed to identify the relationship between attitudes toward digital gaming and healthy nutrition according to participation in physical activity. Material and methods. The sample consisted of 332 (171 female, 161 male) students aged 10 to 14. The Digital Gaming Attitude Scale (DGAS) and Attitude Scale for Healthy Nutrition (ASHN) were used to collect data. After verifying the normal distribution of the data, Pearson correlation analysis and t-test were performed. Results. The results showed a moderate inverse correlation between DGAS and ASHN scores. Moreover, a moderate inverse correlation was found between the DGAS and ASHN scores of both physically active and sedentary participants. Male participants, regardless of their physical exercise status, had significantly higher DGAS scores than female participants. No significant difference was found in the ASHN scores of those who participated in physical activity and those who did not participate in physical activity according to their gender. Conclusions. The findings suggested that the increase in the attitude toward digital gaming caused a reduction in the attitude toward healthy nutrition, and participation in regular physical activity diminished the attitude toward playing digital games. Furthermore, the results indicated that male participants had higher digital gaming attitudes than female participants, irrespective of their physical activity status.

Physical activity as a form of support for emotional intelligence in the treatment of depressive disorders: a review of current studies
(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2023-10-23) Marszałek, Anna ; Walaszek, Robert ; Kasperczyk, Tadeusz
Depression is one of the most frequent mental diseases, and has a detrimental impact on numerous areas of human life. The development of depression may be fostered by various factors: genetic, biochemical, biological, mental and social. A significant role when treating depressive disorders is played by pharmacological, psychotherapeutic or cognitive and behavioral impacts. There is also evidence proving high effectiveness of properly dosed physical activity, both in the prevention and in the treatment of depressive disorders. The article is aimed at presenting the influence of regular physical activity on the improvement in emotional intelligence, in the treatment of depressive disorders. The paper is a narrative review and has been written based on the documentation analysis method, using the quantitative and the qualitative technique. The tool used was the Polish and the international scientific literature from databases, i.e. Web of Science, PubMed, Google Scholar and Europe PMC. The research material was constituted by groups of women and men, aged 9 to 80, varying in the numbers of group members. The research tools used were various psychological questionnaires, as well as m agnetic r esonance images. T he s tudy covered v arious forms of physical activity a nd t he period of t heir use, while MRI was applied to assess morphological changes occurring in the brain as a result of undertaken physical activity. It was proven that regular physical training, regardless of its form, causes a reduction in stress and depression symptoms in all the respondents, notwithstanding their age and gender.
