RekordA historical perspective on the conditions for the rise of far-right parties in Scandinavia(Państwowa Szkoła Wyższa im. Papieża Jana Pawła II w Białej Podlaskiej, 2020-06-30) Zimelis, AndrisSubject and purpose of work: This article analyzes the factors depicted in the literature as essential for the emergence of far-right parties and assesses the importance of unemployment, immigration and political establishments in the failures of the far-right wing parties in Sweden and Finland in early 2000s. Materials and methods: Multi-methods approach is used in this study including case studies and a novel technique based on Boolean algebra. Results: The findings of this paper lead to the conclusion that the correlation between unemployment rates and the electoral strength of far-right parties is weak and does not support simplistic thesis such as high unemployment leads to extremism. Moreover, despite objectively favorable conditions in terms of high immigration rates, the presence of non-European immigrants in a country does not in itself explain the emergence of far-right parties. Conclusions: The study points to the importance of political factors such as the differences between the mainstream parties and tackling the immigration issue by the Liberal Party in Sweden and the wide ideological span of the coalition government and the role of Finland’s special relationship with the USSR that militated against the emergence of far-right parties in these countries.

RekordA short history of India’s economy: pre- and post-independence period / Krótka historia gospodarki Indii: w okresie przed i po odzyskaniu niepodległości(Państwowa Szkoła Wyższa im. Papieża Jana Pawła II w Białej Podlaskiej, 2020-12-17) Shrotryia, Vijay Kumar ; Singh, Shashank Vikram PratapIndia is one of the most populated countries in the world and was famously known as the golden bird. It was known for its rich cultural heritage and some of the world’s most significant educational institutions. Over the countless decades and centuries, the invaders exploited the resources for their advantage. At the decline of the independence in 1947, it was left backward with one of the poorest economies of the world of that time. The richness of erstwhile India, the status of the golden bird, the sacred intellectual space that India occupied has only textual value for the present generation. Through this academic paper, an attempt has been made to address the following questions: what was the state of the economy of India during the pre- and post-independence period, how has India transformed herself from one of the most impoverished economies in 1947 to currently the third-largest economy in the world, and how is the current economic and non-economic status of India.

RekordAgriculture loans in cooperative banks of the Podlaskie Voivodeship / Kredyty dla rolnictwa w Bankach Spółdzielczych województwa podlaskiego(Państwowa Szkoła Wyższa im. Papieża Jana Pawła II w Białej Podlaskiej, 2020-12-17) Łukaszuk, KrzysztofSubject and purpose of work: Running an agricultural activity requires acquiring funds necessary for its functioning and proper development. The most classic examples of financing agricultural activity include all kinds of bank loans used by farmers for the purchase of agricultural land, construction and modernization of buildings, the purchase of machinery and equipment, as well as the establishment of perennial plantations or the purchase of a herd. The aim of the study is to present the possibilities of financing agricultural activity by cooperative banks in the Podlaskie Voivodeship. Materials and methods: The study used the method of observation and analysis of banking materials. The source of information was the data of cooperative banks, the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture and the Central Statistical Office. Results: Over the centuries, cooperative banks have developed techniques, methods and practices in the field of agricultural lending. They have somehow specialized in this area and offer farmers a full range of commercial loans. They have also actively participated in the redistribution of funds under the implementation of the EU Common Agricultural Policy. for many years. Currently operating farms have access to many forms of financing (the most developed and available in banks, however, are loans) depending on their financial needs or planned investments. Conclusions: Among many forms of foreign capital in agriculture, it is preferential loans that play a significant role as a stimulus to improve farm activities. Granting loans by cooperative banks is one of the basic tasks in their operations. Bank loans play an important role in changes taking place in agriculture. They generally do not violate the principles of market economy and financing rules, provided that the financial and credit policy takes into account the needs and limitations resulting from the current and forecast economic situation of farms.

RekordAn evaluation of the implementation of the Europe 2020 strategy / Ocena realizacji strategii „Europa 2020”(Państwowa Szkoła Wyższa im. Papieża Jana Pawła II w Białej Podlaskiej, 2021-06-30) Kasprzyk, Beata ; Wojnar, JolantaSubject and purpose of work: A quantitative measurement of the implementation of the objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy, an assessment of the degree of implementation of the strategy objectives for the individual EU-27 countries, and a ranking of countries in terms of the implementation of the strategy objectives were carried out.Materials and methods: The empirical analysis used EUROSTAT statistics covering the values of the basic indicators of the Europe 2020 strategy in the five main areas of development. The TOPSIS linear ordering method was used. For each country, a synthetic measure was established to express the level of achievement of the objectives of the strategy. On the basis of the value of the synthetic measure, a ranking of the countries was created in terms of the degree of the implementation of the Europe 2020 strategy objectives. A cluster analysis was applied in order to classify the countries into groups with a similar level of the implementation of the strategy assumptions. Results: Based on the collected empirical material, a diagnosis of the level of strategy implementation was carried out for all EU-27 member states. A quantitative approach was adopted in order to compare the effects of implementing the strategy assumptions. Groups of countries with a similar level of strategy implementation were identified. Conclusions: The research confirmed the existence of a significant diversification of the results of implementing the strategy objectives in the EU-27 countries. The differences were particularly visible between the highly developed Western European countries and the South European countries, severely weakened by the economic crisis of 2008–2009 and the recession of 2012–2013. The values of the synthetic measure allowed to determine the degree of the implementation of the objectives of the strategy and to create a ranking of the EU-27 countries. The adopted approach made it possible to compare the obtained classification of the Member States into groups with a similar level of achievement of the objectives of the strategy and to define measurable effects of the implementation of the "Europe 2020" strategic plan.

RekordASEAN and European Union addressing the challenges of the 21st century / ASEAN i Unia Europejska wobec wyzwań XXI wieku(Akademia Bialska im. Jana Pawła II, 2024-09-30) Chytopoulou, EleniSubject and purpose of work: The European Union (EU) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are trade partners and believe in rules-based multilateralism. They have developed strong ties despite starting from different starting points and having different standards. The EU is a mature regional cooperation scheme(union) with a highly institutionalized and legalized architecture. At the same time, ASEAN is an intergovernmental association with low institutionalization and legalization in which decisions are made by consensus. After almost fifty years of establishing a diplomatic dialogue between the EU and ASEAN, their cooperation has been of essential importance in maintaining peace and balancing great power rivalries.Materials and methods:Bibliography in books and articles. Results: The EU and ASEAN are among the world’s largest economies in terms of gross domestic product. The EU is already the world’s second-largest economy, and ASEAN could become the world’s fourth-largest economy by 2030. The EU looks forward to strengthening its economic cooperation with ASEAN to maintain its competitive position in the dynamically developing region of the Indo-Pacific. ASEAN is a crucial hub for transporting European goods and is essential in regional supply chains. Closer trade and investment relations could also help the EU achieve its goal of a strategic partnership between the two regional blocks encompassing political and economic cooperation. It would be desirable if the EU and ASEAN continue to connect Europe and Asia by acting as balancers and reducing tensions between the major international players. Conclusions: In the 21st century, the rise of China, India, and other regional powers is consolidating a multipolar system and new geopolitical balances. In this new era, the EU and ASEAN can continue to connect Europe and Asia by acting as balancers and reducing tensions between the major international players.
