RekordElements of Polish culture in Belarus as a component of the tourist potential of the Stankava town / Elementy polskiej kultury na Białorusi jako składnik potencjału turystycznego miejscowości Stańkowo(Państwowa Szkoła Wyższa im. Papieża Jana Pawła II w Białej Podlaskiej, 2021-12-31) Błażejak, Yuliya ; Dąbrowski, DominikSubject and purpose of work: The paper presents the tourist potential on the example of the small town of Stankava (Polish name: Stańkowo, Stańkawa, Stańków) in the Minsk Oblast in Belarus. Materials and methods: The research was conducted by means of the diagnostic survey method using the author’s own questionnaire survey in 2019. The sample used comprised 196 respondents – inhabitants and tourists (including 142 women and 54 men). Results: The results of the study show that Stankava is a naturally and culturally attractive tourist area referring to the history of the former borderlands of Poland with an unused development potential. However, in the opinion of the respondents, the actions of local authorities regarding the preservation of historical memory and the tourist promotion of the town by means of available resources are at a very low level. When assessing the tourist infrastructure, they indicated the lack of tourist trails, services, accommodation facilities and food outlets. The insufficient marking of existing attractions and historically important places was also pointed out. In the tourists’ view, it is natural and cultural objects that are the most important holiday attraction in the researched place. Conclusions: In order to fully exploit the tourist potential of the town, it is necessary to develop its tourist and recreational infrastructure and increase the role of tourism and recreation in the development policy of the local authorities.

Papieża Jana Pawła II w Białej Podlaskiej, 2021-12-31) Anthony-Orji, Onyinye ; Orji, Anthony ; Ogbuabor, Jonathan E.Subject and purpose of work: The issue of savings and what motivates them has continued to generate discussion. This study, therefore, investigated the determinants of savings in Nigeria over the period of 1980 to 2017. Materials and methods: The study employed the Classical Linear Regression Model in its analysis. Results: The results revealed that the determinants of savings include per capita income, gross fixed capital formation, financial deepening and exchange rate. Interest rate and inflation rate showed negative impact on savings. Conclusions: The study recommends that the variables that showed positive impact on savings rate should be properly maintained with relevant policy tools to ensure higher saving rates. Moreover, the government should control spending on economic activities that encourage the creation of more jobs and investments. This will help individuals, firms and governments find opportunities to save money. Finally, the Monetary Authorities should pursue financial deepening policies and implement strategies that will enhance the increase of savings in Nigeria.

Papieża Jana Pawła II w Białej Podlaskiej(Państwowa Szkoła Wyższa im. Papieża Jana Pawła II w Białej Podlaskiej, 2021-12-31) Kuźmicki, Marek ; Borysiuk, MagdalenaSubject and purpose of work: The aim of this paper is to identify the professional expectations of the students of Economics at the Pope John Paull II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska. The paper also presents the respondents’ opinions on particularly desirable values of potential employers. Materials and methods: The research was carried out using the CAWI method in January 2021. It involved 108 students of Economics pursuing Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. RekordReligious imperatives as a correlate of the development of human potential and the economic capital of society / Imperatywy religijne jako korelat rozwoju potencjału ludzkiego i kapitału ekonomicznego społeczeństwa(Państwowa Szkoła Wyższa im. Papieża Jana Pawła II w Białej Podlaskiej, 2021-12-31) Karpiak, Maria ; Shparyk, KhrystynaSubject and purpose of work: This article examines the role of religion in economic development. Even though it is obvious that religion plays a vital role in economic development since a healthy economy requires that all people view one another with dignity, there are still some questions which need to be answered, for example, why wealthier nations tend to be less religious, and if economic development actually causes individuals to become less religious in today’s world. Materials and methods: The research is based on universal methods of formal logic and scientific abstraction, basics of innovation science, investment science and institutional economics, systemic, structural-functional and synergetic approaches, as well as information sources of the World Economic Forum. Results: The authors’ hypothesis about the influence of religion and religious values on rapid economic growth has been substantiated. Conclusions: In conclusion, it can be stated that there is strong negative correlation between GDP per capita and the importance of religion in a particular country, nevertheless, in most societies religious values were the main driving force of economic growth.

RekordRemote work in Poland and its perspectives / Praca zdalna w Polsce i jej perspektywy(Państwowa Szkoła Wyższa im. Papieża Jana Pawła II w Białej Podlaskiej, 2021-12-31) Radziukiewicz, MałgorzataSubject and purpose of work: Remote work is a phenomenon which has rapidly intensified as a result of COVID-19 pandemic. The article presents the scale of remote work in Poland before the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, i.e. until 2020, and directly during the pandemic, i.e. from 2020 to the first half of 2021. The topics discussed concern: the concept of remote work, the level and structure of persons working remotely in Poland and changes in their number in the recent years as compared to those across the world and within the European Union Member States by sectors of ownership, particular regions of the country and a type of socio-economic activity. Moreover, positive and negative consequences of remote work for employees, employers and their families are presented. Materials and methods: The analysis concerning the development of remote work is based on many sources: data from Eurostat, Eurofound, the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Statistics Poland, as well as surveys conducted by national and foreign consulting companies dealing with the labour market. The following have been applied: a descriptive analysis allowing identification of basic data in the scope of share of remote workers, an analysis of dynamics identifying changes in the studied scope and a comparative analysis assessing the scale of remote workers in the country with regard to the data noted in the EU states. Results: Before the pandemic in 2018, in Poland – in comparison to the EU states – the share of employees who had the possibility of working remotely was below average and amounted to approx. 4.6% (whereas in the whole EU 5.2% of persons aged between 15 and 64 years old regularly worked remotely from home). In 2020, the share of persons who “usually work from home” doubled in our country in comparison to the data for 2018 and amounted to 8.9%. The largest share of remote workers in the general number of workers at the end of the 1st quarter of 2021 was noted in the following sectors: financial and insurance services (36.1%), education (45.9%) and IT (66.8%). These sectors were also the leaders in digitalisation and automation before the pandemic. Conclusions: Remote work is a flexible form of employment, which has recently developed , due to the coronavirus pandemic in Poland and globally on a mass scale and at an unprecedented pace. This form of work using the newest information and communication technologies (ICT) has changed work and workplaces, as well as opened new divisions on the labour market since better educated persons living in urban areas are better prepared to work outside their employers’ premises.
